Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s shared ownership arm, Prospa Homes, is proud to announce nine new homes for shared ownership at the former Kings School site in Macclesfield.
The development, King’s Gate, is being built by developer PJ Livesey, and features a collection of beautifully restored historic buildings alongside newly designed homes, blending heritage with modern comfort.
The first two homes will be available soon and are 1-bed modern homes in the converted cricket pavilion. The cricket pavilion has been sympathetically restored to keep original features such as the ‘in memoriam’ stonework and original balcony ironwork.
The two one-bedroom homes both feature bespoke kitchenware and high-quality bathroom fittings along with sash windows creating two unique homes in a luxurious setting.
The remaining seven homes will be a mixture of apartments and mews houses which are set to complete later this year. The shared ownership homes will be marketed under ‘Prospa Homes’, the shared ownership brand of the Weaver Vale Housing Trust.
The homes will feature eco credentials such as EV car charging points in their allocated car parking spaces, with the mews homes also having solar panels fitted.
Gemma Wood, Development & Regeneration Director at Weaver Vale Housing Trust said:
"We are excited to introduce this exceptional development to Macclesfield. Our partnership with PJ Livesey has allowed us to create homes that combine historic charm with contemporary living.
"We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home. Shared ownership initiatives are instrumental in making homeownership accessible to more people, especially in an area like Macclesfield where house prices are higher than average.
"We are committed to delivering sustainable, high-quality homes that meet the needs of our communities. This development represents a significant investment in Macclesfield's future, providing residents with not just a place to live, but a place to thrive."
PJ Livesey Group Managing Director Georgina Lynch, said:
“King’s Gate is a very special development offering a wide range of homes and we are delighted to be partnering with Weaver Vale to create a truly mixed community.
“All the properties are completed to PJ Livesey’s standard of excellence, and we are particularly proud that the original school cricket pavilion – built to commemorate pupils who lost their lives in World War I – will now provide two unique homes.
“We have also converted the school’s original library and schoolhouse and the main school building to bring these listed buildings, which are such a part of Macclesfield’s heritage, back into use.”
